The General Assembly was off this week, so no legislative matters to report – we thought a provocative subject line might be needed to get your attention.

 

It’s pretty safe to assume that while the state legislature can do some … interesting … things, they could NEVER get away with banning BBQ in North Carolina!

One final item of note: the legislation that will contain IIANC’s further clarifications on certificates of insurance, strengthening of enforcement of the prohibition on lenders requiring replacement cost estimators as a condition of issuing a loan, and extending the effective date to January 1, 2027, on the new law passed last year requiring every licensed driver subject to the inexperienced operator surcharge to maintain continuous liability coverage is scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Commerce and Insurance Committee on Tuesday, so we’ll be reporting on the progress of that in next week’s Raleigh Report.
